• The Scarlet Hotel, Cornwall - Restaurant:

The original lighting, a mixture of Fluorescent and Compact Fluorescent, was felt to give too cold a lighting effect, to address this, it was decided to replace the existing CFL lighting with a dimmable LED system.

Philips LED’s with a colour temperature of 2700K were chosen, driven by the existing Dynalite system now equipped with specialist LED drivers. These drivers not only deliver unprecedented dimming performance but feature adjustable dimming curves enabling the system to be programmed to mimic the dimming characteristics of conventional tungsten lamps.

The result gives a far warmer and more atmospheric dining experience with the added benefit of reducing the lighting running costs by 30%.

  • The Scarlet Hotel, Cornwall - New Sea Weed Treatment Room:

The lighting requirement for this new Spa treatment and Shower room, was not only to install suitably atmospheric lighting, but to provide a number of settings that matched the treatments being given. Lighting scenes had to be controlled both locally, and via a remote Touch Screen.

A number of small, dimmable 2W Marker LED’s were fitted, these are controlled by an additional Philips Dynalite LED Controller installed in an adjacent service cupboard. As the room is exposed to water, a bespoke, IP65 rated switch was manufactured and fitted inside the space, this was interfaced to the Dynalite system via a dry contact gateway.

The existing Touch Screen, was re-programmed to facilitate remote operation of the new treatment room, as well as incorporating it into the global Spa ‘all on’ and ‘all off’ controls.
